Scope of Works

• Attend site to survey access, ground conditions and permit needs.

• Deliver tubes, boards, fittings and edge protection on a flat-bed or HIAB truck.

• Erect scaffold to TG20:21 or bespoke design, including ties, toe-boards and handrails.

• Secure pavement/highway licence where required and post signage.

• Carry out initial hand-over inspection and issue safety certificate.

• Provide weekly statutory inspections and on-call adjustments.

• Strike (dismantle) scaffold and remove all materials from site at project end.

Time on Site

• Erection: ½–1 day for typical two-storey house.

• Hire period: Usually 2–6 weeks (longer adds weekly hire).

• Dismantle: ½ day.

• Can extend if: restricted street parking, complex rooflines, conservatory bridges, severe weather or additional lifts requested mid-hire.
  

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

1. Are your scaffolders CISRS-carded and fully insured for public liability?

2. Will I receive a TG20:21 compliance sheet or engineer-designed drawings?

3. Does the quote include erection, dismantling, weekly inspections and VAT?

4. How many weeks of hire are covered, and what’s the extra-week rate?

5. Who arranges council pavement/highway permits and how long do they take?

6. Will you fit alarms, debris netting or fans where the public pass below?

7. How much notice do you need to strike the scaffold at the end of the job?
   

How to Avoid Surprises

• Reserve on-street parking or organise bay suspensions for lorry access.

• Confirm ground is firm and level (no soft landscaping).

• Check for overhead power cables within 3 m of planned scaffold.

• Notify neighbours if scaffold will over-sail their property.

• Obtain written council permit before erecting on highway/pavement.

• Schedule around bad weather and agree out-of-hours rates in advance.
