🔧 Scope of Works
Isolate cold & hot feeds at service valves or main stop-cock and relieve line pressure.
Empty items stored under the sink and remove any base-unit back panel for access.
Disconnect flexible tails/compression joints and back-nut(s) securing the old mixer.
Lift out existing kitchen mixer tap, clean sink/dresser seating and check for corrosion.
Fit new mono-bloc or bridge-mixer with fresh seals and secure with manufacturer’s fixing kit.
Connect new flexi-tails or copper tails (cut to length) and fit/upgrade isolation valves if missing.
Restore water, flush aerator, check for leaks, correct alignment and flow orientation.
Re-instal cupboard panels, seal around the tap base (if required) and wipe down the area.
Remove all packaging and the old tap for recycling or licensed disposal.

🕓 Time on Site
1 – 2 hours for a straight replacement. Allow up to 3 hours if:
Old nuts/tails are seized or inaccessible.
No isolation valves (system needs draining).
Worktop/sink cut-out is tight or needs modification.
Extra time fitting pull-out spray hoses, filters or boiling-water units.
❓ Questions to Ask Your Tradie
Will the water be isolated at the stop-cock or do you need to drain the system?
Is your quote fixed-price or hourly after the first hour? Does it include VAT?
Do you supply the tap, or should I buy one? Any brands you recommend/avoid?
Are new isolation valves or braided hoses included if the old ones are corroded?
Will you silicone or gasket-seal the tap base to stop leaks under the sink?
How long is your workmanship guarantee, and what warranty does the tap carry?
Is disposal of the old tap and all packaging included in the price?
✅ How to Avoid Surprises
Clear the cupboard: empty cleaning products so the plumber can get straight in.
Measure twice: check your new mixer matches the sink holes/pressure rating.
Stop-cock check: make sure it actually turns off before the day.
Parking & access: arrange visitor permit/driveway space for the van.
Isolation valves: tell the plumber if none are fitted (adds time & parts).
Height & permits: high-rise flats may need concierge access or shut-down notice.
Special taps: boiling-water, pull-out or filter mixers add extra parts and time—flag in advance.
💡 Knowing these points means you can budget realistically, ask the right questions and ensure your new kitchen mixer tap goes in smoothly.
