Questions to Ask Your Tradie

  1. Are you NSI/SSAIB-approved and do you provide a completion certificate for insurance?

  2. Will you supply Cat-6/UV-rated cable and weatherproof glands in the quoted price?

  3. Is remote-view/app configuration included and demonstrated before sign-off?

  4. How long is the parts and labour warranty, and who handles firmware updates?

  5. What happens if a camera view is obstructed by planning-restricted angles—will you relocate at no extra fee?

  6. Are ladder access, parking permits or congestion charges included up front?

  7. Do you provide a written data-protection guide on GDPR/compliant signage and recording zones?

How to Avoid Surprises

  • Access & Parking: Reserve a driveway or kerb space near the router location for the van and ladder off-load.

  • Router & Wi-Fi: Have admin login handy and confirm spare Ethernet ports or mesh coverage beforehand.

  • Power Sockets: Check there’s a free, unswitched socket at the NVR position; agree cost if a spur is needed.

  • Loft Clearance: Clear insulation from walkways so installers can run cables safely.

  • Neighbours: Inform them of ladder work and camera angles to avoid privacy disputes.

  • After-care: Save a copy of passwords; schedule annual clean of lenses and firmware update reminders.
