Scope of Works

• inspect existing wiring, sockets and wall condition to confirm a suitable trunking route

• isolate and test the relevant circuit before any work that disturbs cables

• fit surface wire trunking along the agreed route, cut and secure trunking and bends

• reroute or terminate short cable runs where necessary and secure cables inside the trunking

• prepare surrounding walls (fill, sand and prime) and paint walls and trunking as agreed

• clear debris, remove dust and leave the hallway ready for inspection

Most straightforward trunking installation plus hallway repaint takes 3–6 hours on site depending on run length and number of sockets; larger jobs needing plaster repairs, multiple coats or scaffold add time

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• can you confirm you will test and isolate circuits and supply any necessary electrical certification

• do you include rerouting short cable runs or will an electrician be needed for changes to fixed wiring

• will you paint the trunking to match the wall and which paint brand and sheen will you use

• how many coats are included and do you allow for primer on repaired areas

• what is your waste disposal policy and are skip or uplift charges extra

• what guarantee do you offer on trunking installation and paintwork

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear furniture and fragile items from the hallway before the tradesperson arrives

• reserve parking close to the property and agree where tools and materials can be stored

• confirm access to the fuse box/consumer unit on the day

• agree colour, sheen and a small test patch before full repaint

• alert the tradesperson to high ceilings or restricted access that could need a tower or scaffold

• move pets and cover items you want kept dust‑free
