Scope of Works

• check Gas Safe registration and competency for LPG work

• visually inspect boiler, flue, external pipework, regulator and cylinder or tank connections

• run the boiler to check burner performance, ignition, controls and hot water/central heating operation

• carry out gas tightness and leak checks on serviceable fittings and supply pipework

• measure flue flow and carbon monoxide levels and record readings on the service report

• clean accessible components and replace small consumables such as seals, filters and washers where required

• issue a written service report and advise on any remedial work with estimates for parts and labour

Most routine LPG boiler services take 45–90 minutes; older boilers, restricted access, or additional repairs can extend the visit to 2–4 hours

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• are you Gas Safe registered for LPG and can you show your card number

• will you perform a gas tightness test and a flue/CO check and include the readings on the report

• what parts commonly need replacing on my make/model and how will you charge for parts and labour

• do you provide a written service record or landlord safety certificate after completion

• will you need access to the LPG cylinder or tank area and do I need to unlock any enclosures beforehand

• how long will the visit take and what additional charges could arise for access equipment or urgent parts

How to Avoid Surprises

• ensure safe parking close to the property and clear, unobstructed access to the boiler location

• make sure the LPG cylinder or tank area is accessible and any padlocks or covers are unlocked

• clear the immediate area around the boiler and remove or secure pets from the work area

• have any previous service records or recent fault details ready to show the engineer

• tell the engineer if work will require working at height or scaffolding so access costs can be quoted up front
