Scope of Works

• Visit and survey roof, loft and existing aerial and mast

• Check signal strength and interference at the proposed location

• Fit new aerial, mast or rooftop bracket or install in loft where suitable

• Align and tune aerial for best signal and lock settings

• Run and clip coaxial cable into property, terminate at TV point or socket

• Test all connected sockets, provide signal readings and confirm channels

• Seal roof penetrations, remove old aerial if requested and tidy site

Most rooftop installations take 2–4 hours; loft installs or simple replacements take 1–2 hours. Jobs needing scaffolding, multiple TV points or extensive cable runs can take a full day (6–8 hours) or longer.

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Are you insured and covered for working at height?

• Do you provide a written quote with a breakdown of labour, materials and any scaffold or MEWP costs?

• Will you tune and test all TV points and supply signal level readings on completion?

• Do you supply the aerial and mast, what make/model and what warranty is included?

• Will you need scaffolding or a cherry picker and how will hire/permit costs be charged?

• Do you remove the old aerial and dispose of it, and is that included in the quote?

How to Avoid Surprises

• Confirm roof and loft access and where the cable will run

• Arrange parking close to the property for ladders, van and scaffold delivery

• Check whether landlord or freeholder approval is needed for rooftop works

• Ask for an itemised quote including scaffold or MEWP hire and disposal fees

• Keep pets and children away while work at height is carried out
