Time on Site

Questions to Ask Your Trade

  1. What fixing system will you use for my wall type and shelf load rating?

  2. Is bracket, shelf hardware and cable trunking included in the quote?

  3. Will you hide power/audio cables inside the wall – and who makes good afterwards?

  4. Do you hold public liability insurance that covers accidental screen damage?

  5. Can you supply weighbridge/waste‑transfer notes for any debris?

  6. If the wall conceals pipes or wiring, how will you detect them before drilling?

  7. What warranty do you give on fixings becoming loose or shelves sagging?

How to Avoid Surprises

  • Access & parking: reserve space close to entrance for van and ladders.

  • Confirm wall construction: provide plans or photos so installer brings correct fixings.

  • Power & aerial points: agree if new sockets need a Part P electrician.

  • Cable route permissions: chasing solid walls may require landlord consent.

  • Weight limits: check shelf loading vs. ornaments/books you plan to place.

  • Working‑at‑height: larger TVs above fireplaces may need two‑person lift or mini‑tower.

  • Packaging removal: make sure disposal fees and VAT are itemised on invoice.
