• if non‑destructive methods fail, discuss authorised forced entry and temporary repairs

• retrieve keys left inside where accessible without damage

• cut and programme replacement key or fob on site when possible

• advise on immobiliser, alarm and any follow‑up parts or garage work and provide paperwork and invoice

Most call‑outs take 20–60 minutes; cutting and programming a replacement key or fob on site usually takes 45–120 minutes. times extend for complex immobiliser systems, specialist parts ordered from supplier, weather or if authorised forced entry and repairs are required

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• can you show ID, insurance and locksmith credentials

• do you attempt non‑destructive entry first and what will you charge if forced entry is needed

• what proof of ownership do you require on arrival

• can you cut and programme my key/fob on site and which makes/models can you support

• what are your call‑out, labour and after‑hours charges and is VAT included

• do you provide a written invoice and warranty for parts and labour

How to Avoid Surprises

• have your V5, service book or proof of ownership ready for inspection

• park close and leave clear access around the vehicle for the locksmith van

• tell the trader about any alarm, immobiliser or smart‑key features before they arrive

• clear pets from the vehicle area and advise on site security or gated access

• be ready to pay by card or contactless and ask for a VAT invoice on completion
