Scope of Works

• Carry and move furniture, boxes and bulky items within the property

• Site clearance and removal of non-hazardous debris to client‑designated area

• Assist trades with material handling, short demounting and re‑assembly of fittings

• Basic preparatory works: sweep, clear surfaces and patch small holes for decorators

• Load and deliver waste to skip or van and bag up loose rubbish (disposal charges may apply)

• Work using ladders for low‑level access and use PPE; no specialist electrical or asbestos work

Time on Site

Most general labour jobs take 1–4 hours on site; small tidy or single‑item moves 30–90 minutes and larger clearances or multi‑room work 4–8 hours. Time can extend for poor access, multiple operatives required, waiting for parts, adverse weather, traffic or parking delays and if permits or scaffold are needed.

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Do you have public liability and employer's liability insurance and can you show certificates?

• What exactly is included in the quote and what would be charged extra?

• How many operatives will attend and what are their expected working hours?

• Will you remove waste and are disposal charges included or extra?

• Do you need any permits, road closures or scaffold access for this job?

• What are your payment terms, cancellation fees and estimated start and finish dates?

How to Avoid Surprises

• Confirm access, gate codes and clear a route for operatives and equipment

• Reserve parking or advise of on‑street restrictions and permit requirements

• Identify hazardous materials (asbestos, lead) before work and do not expect operatives to handle them

• Make parts, keys or products available or agree lead times for deliveries to avoid delays

• Secure pets and protect floors and furniture with covers or agree who supplies protection

• Check building rules for communal blocks and obtain permission for skips or scaffolding where needed
