Scope of Works

• remove existing kitchen door leaf, hinges, locks and hardware

• inspect and measure door frame and threshold for rot, square and fit

• supply and fit new door leaf or prehung unit, cut to size and fit hinges and latch

• rehang door, adjust alignment, fit new locks or replace latch and fit architrave if agreed

• protect kitchen surfaces and flooring and tidy/remove old door and debris

Most single internal kitchen door replacements take 1–3 hours on site; fitting a prehung door or carrying out frame repairs typically takes 3–6 hours. Factors that extend time include rotten frames, bespoke doors, multiple doors, restricted access and drying/curing time for finishes

• have you fitted this door type before and can you show examples

• do you supply the door and fittings or should i buy them

• will you need to alter the frame, threshold or rebated architrave

• what warranty do you offer on labour and any supplied hardware

• how will you protect kitchen units, flooring and appliances

• will you need parking, a loading bay or permission to use a van near the door

How to Avoid Surprises

• check and confirm exact door size, handing and finish before the visit

• clear a route through the house and move bins and furniture from the kitchen

• reserve a parking space or tell the tradie about permit restrictions

• advise of restricted access such as narrow staircases or gated driveways

• tell the tradie about pets, alarms or communal building rules beforehand

• agree who supplies the door, locks and paint and confirm lead times
