  • Hoist and secure outdoor condenser; install indoor air-handler(s) and route insulated copper lines, drain and control cable through trunking.

  • Register warranty, issue F-Gas certificate, tidy site and remove packaging/old equipment.

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

  1. Are you F-Gas registered and will you provide the certificate on completion?

  2. What SEER/SCOP efficiency and noise level does the quoted unit achieve?

  3. Is electrical isolation, RCD spur and surge protection included?

  4. How long is the parts and labour warranty, and who handles manufacturer claims?

  5. Will annual servicing be required to keep the warranty valid—and at what cost?

  6. Do I need planning permission for the outdoor unit in my area?

  7. Is condensate drainage pumped or gravity—where will the pipe terminate?

How to Avoid Surprises

  • Access & Parking: Reserve a space for the van and, if needed, crane or hoist.

  • Working at Height: Flag second-storey or roof siting early—scaffold or cherry-picker may be required.

  • Power Supply: Confirm spare way in consumer unit for a 16 A/20 A MCB.

  • Noise & Vibration: Agree condenser position respecting neighbour distances.

  • Condensate Route: Ensure gravity fall to an outside drain or budget for a pump.

  • Roof / Wall Integrity: Check for asbestos or fragile render before drilling.

  • After-care: Keep warranty card, maintenance schedule and spare filters on hand.
