Scope of Works

• Remove existing wallpaper using steam, scoring or chemical strippers where safe

• strip remaining paste and clean wall surface ready for inspection

• assess plaster substrate and make repairs to cracked or loose plaster

• apply patching compound or 1–2 coat skim of plaster to prepare for decoration

• sand and key repaired areas, apply bonding primer where required

• protect floors, joinery and fittings; dispose of removed paper and small debris

• report any damp or mould found and advise on next steps

Most single rooms take 1–2 days from start to finish; hands-on work is typically 4–10 hours across that period, with drying time of 24–72 hours between skims. multiple layers of wallpaper, damp or mould, high ceilings or required scaffolding can extend this to 2–4 days

• how many years' experience do you have removing and re‑skimming walls

• do you include preparation, primer and material costs in the quote

• will you repair plaster to a level suitable for painting or papering

• do you handle mould or damp remediation or will you recommend a specialist

• what is your timetable for drying between coats and final redecoration

• are you insured and do you provide a written guarantee for the work

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear a working space and remove small furniture and wall fittings

• reserve parking close to the property and tell the tradesperson about access constraints

• confirm permissions for flats, listed buildings or communal areas before work starts

• turn off or isolate electrical outlets near work areas and tell the tradie about any hazards

• ensure heating and ventilation are available for drying and let the tradie know about pets
