• dust and wipe skirtings, ledges and accessible window sills; spot-clean interior windows

• empty bins, bag and remove domestic rubbish where agreed; handle pet mess with PPE

Most domestic cleans take 1–4 hours depending on property size and condition; a one-off deep clean for a 2–3 bed house typically takes 3–6 hours. Factors that extend time include heavy soiling, excessive clutter, pet hair, specialist jobs (oven, carpets), restricted access or difficult parking

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• are cleaning supplies and equipment included in the price

• is the quote per cleaner per hour or a fixed job price

• do you carry public liability insurance and can you provide evidence

• are staff DBS checked or able to provide references for work in occupied homes

• will you bring extra staff or equipment for a deep/end-of-tenancy clean and at what cost

• what are your policies for cancellations and unexpected extra charges

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear clutter and remove valuables before arrival

• point out pet areas and any biohazards or heavily stained zones in advance

• confirm parking or access instructions for the van to avoid delays

• tell the cleaner about building rules, concierge or lockbox arrangements

• agree in advance if oven, carpet or upholstery cleaning is needed as these are priced separately
