Exterior Front Cleaning Guide

Scope of Works

• Inspect facade materials (brick, render, stone, PVC, glazing) to select the correct cleaning method.

• Mask or wet‑down nearby planting, isolate external sockets and cover vents.

• Apply approved detergent or biocide; agitate with soft brushes or low‑pressure equipment.

• Rinse walls, windows, doors and sills with controlled pressure; collect run‑off where required by local regs.

• Sweep and wash steps, paths and frontage paving; treat algae and moss.

• Remove loose paint / debris, clear gutters at lower level and tidy site, leaving surfaces streak‑free.

• Provide written after‑care advice on re‑treatment intervals and maintenance.

2 – 4 hours for a standard two‑storey frontage.

Time increases with heavy soiling, intricate mouldings, render that needs biocide dwell time, or if access equipment must be erected and dismantled.

Questions to Ask Your Trade

1. Which cleaning method (soft‑wash, steam, low‑pressure rinse) will you use on my facade materials?

2. Are your chemicals biodegradable and safe around plants and pets?

3. Is the quoted price inclusive of VAT, protective sheeting, and any access equipment?

4. Will you clean windows and door furniture as part of the package or at extra cost?

5. How will run‑off water be managed to prevent staining or drain blockages?

6. Do you carry public liability insurance covering accidental damage to render or glazing?

7. What warranty or re‑wash policy applies if algae returns within a set period?

   
   

How to Avoid Surprises

• Reserve parking: Book driveway or on-street parking for the cleaning van and water-fed pole system.

• Clear area: Move pots, outdoor furniture, and vehicles at least three metres from the work zone.

• Neighbour notice: Inform neighbours about possible overspray if houses are close together.

• Water supply: Confirm water tap availability or request a bowser if supply is limited.

• Permit check: Verify if scaffold or towers will obstruct pavements and arrange permits early.
