Scope of Works

• Unpack & check parts against the manual; report missing fixings.

• Assemble flat‑pack items (beds, wardrobes, desks, shelves) with manufacturer‑approved tools.

• Secure anti‑tip straps or brackets to masonry / studs; level doors and drawers.

• Mount add‑ons such as mirrors, TV brackets or coat hooks if agreed in advance.

• Clear packaging and vacuum/sweep the work area, leaving the furniture ready for use.

Typical Cost

Time on Site

1–3 hours per large item (e.g., PAX wardrobe); multiple items or intricate sliding‑door units can push a two‑person team to 4–6 hours. Delays arise from missing parts, solid masonry drilling, or narrow staircases requiring partial assembly in situ.

Questions to Ask Your Trade

1. Do you offer a fixed price per item or charge hourly?

2. Will you supply wall anchors suitable for my plasterboard / masonry?

3. Are you insured against damage to floors, walls or the furniture finish?

4. Can you dispose of packaging and is there an extra fee?

5. Do you bring a stud/cable detector to avoid pipes and wiring when drilling?

6. What is your warranty or call‑back policy if hinges loosen within 30 days?

7. Can you assemble IKEA sliding‑door wardrobes or other specialist systems?

   
   

How to Avoid Surprises

• Clear 2 m of floor space and move fragile décor before the team arrives.

• Lay out all parts & screws and check against the parts list—order replacements early.

• Reserve close parking for toolboxes and heavy panels.

• Confirm wall type (stud, brick, dot‑and‑dab) for the correct anchors.

• Photograph existing wiring behind skirting and sockets if walls will be drilled.
