Scope of Works

• Inspect ceiling rose, mounting and wiring for the pendant light and check fixings

• Remove existing fitting and fit new pendant or mounting bracket, including secure earth connection

• Replace or supply required connectors and bulbs and test light operation and switch

• Diagnose doorbell fault including push button, chime unit and transformer or battery supply

• Repair or replace doorbell components (transformer, chime, push or battery unit) and rewire low-voltage connections

• Work with power isolated, use appropriate PPE and test both systems before leaving the site

Most combined jobs take 1–3 hours on site for a straightforward pendant swap and doorbell fix; times extend if new wiring, transformer replacement, chasing or working at height is needed or if the chime is in a loft or multiple floors must be accessed

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Are you a qualified electrician and do you carry public liability insurance

• Will you isolate and test circuits before starting and provide a certificate for any significant wiring work

• Do your quote and price include parts, or should I supply the pendant and doorbell components

• If you find additional faults or need to re-route wiring how will you charge and obtain authorisation

• Do you need loft or roof access to reach the chime and can you work at height where required

How to Avoid Surprises

• Make sure the tradie can park nearby or that you can provide short-term loading access

• Have the pendant and doorbell model details ready or agree that the tradie will supply parts and warranties

• Advise of restricted access, loft traps or communal stair rules in flats before booking

• Clear the area and remove fragile items beneath the work zone and secure pets

• Confirm whether a working-at-height permit, scaffold or ladder hire will be needed and agree costs in advance

• Ask for a written estimate that shows parts, labour and any call-out fee to avoid unexpected charges
