Scope of Works

• Check supplied parts, fittings and instructions

• Assemble base, pole, lamp holder and shade to manufacturer specification

• Connect and check electrical connections and switch operation (visual and basic live test)

• Fit bulb if provided and confirm correct operation and stability

• Position lamp, route and secure cable to minimise trip risk

• Remove packaging and small waste; advise if additional disposal is required

Most domestic standing lamp assemblies take 30–90 minutes on site; larger heavy‑base lamps, hardwired connections or two‑person lifts can extend this to around 2 hours

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Do you have experience assembling and testing mains‑connected standing lamps?

• Are you insured and do you carry public liability cover for in‑home work?

• Will you bring spare fittings or bulbs and how will parts be charged?

• Will any hardwiring or earth bonding require a separate qualified electrician?

• What guarantee do you offer on the assembly and any electrical checks you perform?

How to Avoid Surprises

• Clear a 2m working area and remove fragile items

• Have the lamp box, instructions and any bulbs to hand

• Check parking and access for the tradesperson and advise of narrow corridors

• Secure pets and inform the tradie of any mobility or floor sensitivity issues

• Confirm communal building rules for work in flats and permission for any drilling

• Make a nearby mains socket available and tell the tradie if the lamp will be hardwired
