Questions to Ask Your Tradie

  1. Will you use a power stretcher for larger rooms to meet BS 5325 tension standards?

  2. Are tack-strips and seam tape replacements included in the quoted price?

  3. Can you match my carpet type and pile direction for any necessary patches?

  4. How long after the repair can we move heavy furniture or roll office chairs back?

  5. Do you provide a workmanship warranty against re-rippling or seam lift?

  6. Are call-out and parking charges fully included, even if the job overruns?

  7. What precautions will you take to protect skirting boards and décor while re-stretching?

How to Avoid Surprises

  • Access & Parking: Reserve a nearby space or visitor permit for the fitter’s van.

  • Clear Floor: Remove small items, breakables and under-bed storage to speed access.

  • Power: Ensure a working socket for hot-melt seam iron if seams need rebonding.

  • Pets & Children: Keep away from sharp tack-strips and hot tools until work is complete.

  • Spare Off-cuts: Provide leftover carpet pieces for invisible patch repairs.

  • After-care: Ventilate the room and avoid dragging heavy furniture across the freshly tensioned carpet.
