Scope of Works

• Inspect and measure entrance/hallway and check substrate condition

• remove existing matting and underlay and dispose if requested

• prepare floor (sweep/vacuum, minor levelling) and allow to dry if damp

• cut and fit hessian matting to shape, returning or joining seams where needed

• fix using gripper strips, double‑sided tape or specialist adhesive and trim edges

• fit threshold strips or door bars where required and finish edges

• clear site, remove debris and advise on maintenance and mould prevention

Most domestic fits take 1–3 hours depending on area and prep; large hallways or multiroom installs can take a day or more and adhesive drying times may extend the job

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• do you have experience fitting hessian/coir matting and can you show examples

• which grade and backing do you recommend for my traffic level and moisture exposure

• what fixing method will you use and does it affect door operation or thresholds

• how long before the area can be used after fitting and are there any VOC or odour issues

• do you provide a guarantee and do you handle disposal of old matting

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear furniture and personal items from the area before the tradie arrives

• arrange parking close to the property or tell the tradie about permits or restricted access

• point out damp or staining issues and any listed building or communal rules beforehand

• let the tradie know about pets and secure them during works

• confirm whether you need to provide power or access to water and agree a clear start time
