Bathroom Fittings Guide

Scope of Works

  • Carry out on-site survey; confirm pipework, wall structure and electrical isolation points.

  • Remove old taps, cistern parts, accessories or units and cap/flush pipework.

  • Make good substrates: drill and plug masonry/tiles, seal penetrations, fit backer boards if required.

  • Install and level new fittings (taps, vanity, WC internals, towel rail, mirrors, shelves), using WRAS-approved connectors and isolation valves.

  • Test for leaks, descale aerators, set flow restrictors or thermostatic limits as applicable.

  • Apply sanitary-grade silicone around penetrations and edges; tidy and dispose of packaging/old fittings.

  • Provide user hand-over plus workmanship/parts warranty documentation.

Time on Site

1–3 hours for a straight tap or accessory swap; half-day to full day if multiple items, tiled drilling complexity, or if a heated towel rail needs electrical isolation and certification.

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

  1. Are all new fittings WRAS-approved and suitable for my water pressure?

  2. Is complete removal and disposal of the old fittings included?

  3. Will you fit service valves so future maintenance doesn’t require a shut-off?

  4. Do you provide Part P certification if any electrical spur is installed?

  5. What warranty covers both the supplied products and your workmanship?

  6. How will you protect tiles and sealant from cracking during drilling or removal?

  7. Are call-out and parking/congestion charges already built into the quote?

How to Avoid Surprises

  • Access & Parking: Reserve a close parking bay or supply a visitor permit.

  • Isolation Valves: Test stopcock and local service valves before the visit.

  • Clear Work Area: Empty vanity units and remove toiletries/shelves near drill points.

  • Tile Matching: Keep spare tiles or grout on hand if walls need patching.

  • Electrical Load: Confirm consumer-unit capacity before adding heated towel rails.

  • Ventilation: Provide adequate airflow when new silicone is applied.
