Scope of Works

• Survey & moisture check – tap tiles, use a damp‑meter to see if water has penetrated substrate.

• Isolate area & protect drains – shut water if necessary, cover waste grill to stop debris.

• Remove damaged tiles & grout – score joints, prise off tiles, collect fragments for colour match.

• Inspect & patch waterproof membrane – apply liquid tanking or sealing tape where backing is exposed.

• Re‑bed new or salvaged tiles in flexible cement adhesive, respecting original falls to drain.

• Re‑grout and silicone with mould‑resistant, colour‑matched products; tool joints flush.

• Final clean & seal – polish haze, spray grout protector, issue care notes.

• Minor crack/grout churn (≤4 tiles): 2 – 3 hours plus grout cure.

• Larger patch (5 – 10 tiles) or membrane repair: 4 – 6 hours over two visits (allow drying).

• Adds time: electric UFH sensor testing, cutting porcelain, colour‑matching discontinued tiles, or forced‑drying membrane in humid rooms.

1. Will you moisture‑test the substrate and patch the waterproof layer if breached?

2. Can you source matching tiles or propose a pattern break if the range is discontinued?

3. Is disposal of rubble and grout haze included in the quote?

4. What grout and silicone brand/colour will be used, and is it mould resistant?

5. Do you carry liability insurance covering water damage to rooms below?

6. How long before the wet‑room can be used after repairs (membrane, adhesive, grout cure times)?

7. What warranty do you offer on adhesion and watertightness of the repaired area?
   

How to Avoid Surprises 

• Keep spare tiles & grout codes from original install; provide to the tiler.

• Verify underfloor heating layout if present; share photos to avoid cable cuts.

• Ventilate the room and run extraction during cure to prevent grout bloom.

• Confirm access & parking: tiles and wet saws are heavy—reserve a close space.

• Agree finish level: patch‑only versus full‑wall re‑grout; write it into the quote.

• Check drying schedule: plan shower downtime (usually 24 h) to avoid premature use.

• Get an all‑in written quote (labour, materials, membrane patch, VAT) so the bill stays inside the £250 – £650 range above.
