Scope of Works

• clear site of loose debris and prepare a safe working area

• move materials, tools and equipment between van and work area including manual handling

• load and wheelbarrow waste into a skip or designated disposal point

• assist trades by holding materials, clearing work areas and carrying out basic demolition under direction

• protect floors and fixtures with dust sheets and temporary coverings

• follow instructions from the lead tradesperson and use appropriate PPE and contamination controls where required

Typical short labour tasks take 1–3 hours; small daywork is 4–8 hours; larger clearances or multi‑trade assistance can take several days or require repeat visits

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• are you insured for public liability and employer's liability

• how many labourers will attend and what time will they start

• do you supply tools, consumables and PPE or should i provide anything

• how will you handle waste removal and are skip costs included

• what access, parking or van space do you need on the day

• have you worked on properties like mine and are there any specific H&S concerns i should know about

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear access routes and designate parking or drop‑off space

• move or protect fragile items and cover floors near the work area

• confirm any working‑at‑height or scaffolding permits with building management

• have mains shut‑off points or gas/electric isolation information ready if relevant

• let trades know about pets, alarm codes and neighbour access restrictions

• agree a waste removal plan and whether a skip, van or bin will be used
