Scope of Works

• survey existing racking layout and measure bay dimensions

• inspect fixings, uprights and wall anchors for re-use or replacement

• remove or offload stock to allow safe dismantling (team or forklift required)

• loosen, reposition and re-secure uprights, beams and shelves to new layout

• check load ratings and re-label bays; advise if upgrades or replacements are needed

• operatives use PPE and safe lifting techniques and carry out a basic stability check

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• do you have experience with racking systems in warehouses and can you provide references?

• will you supply a risk assessment and method statement (RAMS) for the work?

• can you confirm insurance and public liability cover and provide certificates?

• do you provide forklift/MEWP and operator, or will we need to arrange hire and permits?

• will you issue a written check or certificate for load ratings after repositioning?

• what lead time is needed for parts or beam replacements if discovered on site?

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear aisles and remove stock from shelves before the trades arrive

• reserve parking or loading bay space close to the work area

• confirm forklift/MEWP access and floor loading limits with site facilities

• check building rules for out-of-hours work, permits and fire alarm procedures

• provide a site contact and highlight any fragile or hazardous stock before arrival
