Scope of Works

• survey carpet condition and identify stains, odours and high-traffic areas

• vacuum to remove dry soil and grit before wet cleaning

• carry out colourfastness test and pre-treat stains with suitable cleaners

• hot water extraction (steam cleaning) of carpet pile and targeted agitation of fibres

• apply deodouriser or enzyme treatment for pet odours where required

• groom pile, remove extraction residue and advise on drying times

• move small, light furniture and protect skirting; larger items require prior agreement

• use PPE and contain contamination for pet urine or heavy soiling

Most standard single rooms take 1–2 hours on site including preparation and extraction; whole-house jobs or heavily soiled carpets can take 3–6 hours. factors that extend time include moving heavy furniture, multiple stain treatments, restricted access to power or water, and the need for additional drying equipment

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• do you test for colourfastness and offer any guarantee against dye run

• are pet odour treatments included or charged as an extra

• do you move furniture, and if so what is included in the quote

• what drying time should i expect and do you supply dehumidifiers or air movers

• are you insured and can you provide references for similar domestic jobs

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear rooms of small items and valuables before the cleaner arrives

• ensure access to a mains power socket and a cold water tap for the machine

• arrange parking or a short unload zone close to the property

• secure pets and warn the cleaner about strong odours, mould or pest issues

• check with your building manager for rules on communal area access or permits in flats

• tell the cleaner about any previous treatments, bleach use or delicate fibres
