Scope of Works

• inspect tree health, stability and any decay before work begins

• agree target height and extent of crown reduction with the homeowner

• carry out crown reduction and selective branch removal using ropework or sectional dismantling where needed

• lower large sections safely to ground and chip branches or stack logs as agreed

• remove arising debris and tidy work area, leaving chip or logs according to your preference

• use PPE and protect nearby structures, lawn and planting during operations

Most small pine reductions take 2–4 hours; medium trees or limited-access sites can be 1 day; large trees or work near buildings and power lines can take 1–3 days depending on crew size and equipment

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• are you fully insured (public liability) and what qualifications do your team hold

• will you provide a written quote, start date and estimated completion time

• how will you protect nearby structures, fences, vehicles and planting

• what disposal method is included and are there extra charges for large volumes

• do you need to check for tree preservation orders (TPO) or local authority permissions

• what safety measures will you use near power lines and what do you need from me beforehand

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear driveways and allow room for vans, chippers or a small crane if required

• move vehicles, garden furniture and fragile pots away from work area

• advise the crew of underground services, wells or septic tanks near the tree

• check for TPOs or planning conditions and tell the contractor before work starts

• secure pets and inform neighbours if work will overhang boundaries or require access

• confirm parking or permit arrangements for large plant to avoid delays or extra charges
