Scope of Works

• inspect site and confirm tree species, condition and nearby hazards

• set up safety zone, barriers and signage and cordon off work area

• sectionally fell tree using ropes and lowering to protect buildings and boundaries

• grind stump to the agreed height (typically 50–150 mm) and remove grindings as requested

• chip branches on site and remove larger logs or stack to customer specification

Typical removal and stump height reduction for a small to medium garden tree takes 2–6 hours; stump grinding alone usually adds 30–90 minutes and larger or difficult-access trees can take 1–2 days depending on team size, access, traffic management and weather

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• are you insured with public liability and can you show certificates

• will you provide a risk assessment and method statement for the work

• do you check for tree preservation orders or planning requirements and handle notifications

• how will arisings be disposed of and is chipper/skips included in the quote

• do you grind the stump to a specific height and is regrading or topsoil included

• will you need parking/road closures and who arranges traffic management if required

How to Avoid Surprises

• check access width and gate clearances for chipper and vehicles

• organise parking or permits close to the work area to avoid delays

• confirm any TPOs, planning restrictions or nesting bird checks before work starts

• protect patios, drains and underground services and tell tradie of known utilities

• keep pets and children away from the work area and expect noise and dust during grinding
