Scope of Works

• Carry out a site survey and formal risk assessment

• Remove deadwood and reduce crown by sectional dismantling from the top down

• Use rope access and powered equipment to lower sections safely where required

• Chip branches and either remove arisings or stack logs to customer specification

• Offer stump grinding to an agreed depth or leave stump for later removal

• Establish cordon, use PPE and protect buildings, fences and lawns during operations

Small garden tree (up to 6 m): 2–4 hours. Medium tree (6–12 m): 1–2 days. Large or multiple trees and jobs requiring plant or road permits: 2–5 days. factors that extend time include difficult access, proximity to buildings or services, need for scaffold or crane, protected tree consents and poor weather

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Are you insured for public liability and employer's liability and can you provide certificates?

• Do you hold recognised arboriculture qualifications (e.g. NPTC) and are you a member of a trade body?

• Will the quote include waste removal and chip/skip costs or are those extra?

• Do you check for tree preservation orders or planning consents and will you obtain permits if needed?

• What machinery will you use on site and will you need parking/road closure or neighbour access?

• How will you protect nearby buildings, fences, turf and underground services during work?

How to Avoid Surprises

• Check access and reserve parking close to the work area for plant and crew

• Confirm whether you want logs left, chippings left or all arisings removed

• Tell the tradie about underground services, septic tanks and nearby drains

• Check for tree preservation orders (TPOs) or conservation area rules before work starts

• Keep children and pets away from the work area on the day and follow the crew's instructions

• Agree in writing what is included in the quote (stump grinding, disposal, site reinstatement)
