Scope of Works

• Inspect timber for rot, mould and loose boards

• Prepare surfaces by brushing, light sanding and cleaning where needed

• Remove flaking old stain and degrease or brighten timber as required

• Treat any mould or minor rot and report if panel replacements are needed

• Apply preservative stain (typically one or two coats) to external faces and edges

• Protect nearby paving and plants and clear up dust and packaging on completion

• Use appropriate PPE and safe working‑at‑height measures for taller sheds

Time on Site

Small timber shed: 2–4 hours; medium shed: 6–8 hours; large or multi‑coat jobs: 1–2 days. Weather, extensive stripping or rot repairs and drying time between coats will extend the job

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Have you stained similar timber sheds and can you show examples

• Which stain or preservative do you recommend and how many coats will you apply

• Does the quote include prep, cleaning, mould treatment and two coats

• How do you handle any rot or replacement panels and is that charged separately

• What drying time and weather contingency do you allow and will you need to rebook

• Are you insured and do you provide a written estimate and guarantee

How to Avoid Surprises

• Clear shed contents and remove valuables before the job

• Ensure safe access and a flat place for ladders or scaffold

• Confirm parking nearby for the tradesperson’s van

• Agree in advance how extra repairs or replacement panels will be quoted

• Plan for dry weather or confirm the tradesperson’s reschedule policy

• Tell the tradie about site rules, neighbours or gated access that could affect work
