Scope of Works

• remove bath panel or access cover and expose tap fixings

• isolate the water supply, drain the tap and take necessary PPE precautions

• remove existing taps, cartridges or valves and inspect tailpieces and inlets

• fit new taps and associated fittings, replace cartridges/valves if required and reseal around fixings

• test for leaks, check water pressure and flush to remove debris from pipework

• clear small waste and packaging, report any additional repairs needed such as tile or panel replacement

Typical tap replacement takes 1–2 hours on site; jobs involving corroded fittings, concealed valves or shower mixers can take 3–4 hours or require a return visit

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• do you have experience with this brand or type of tap and cartridge?

• will you supply the replacement taps and parts or should i buy them?

• how long is your labour and parts warranty and what does it cover?

• will you isolate and test the system, and will you leave a leak‑free certificate or checklist?

• are call‑out, VAT and waste disposal included in the written quote?

• will you need to remove tiles or make good around the bath and how is that charged?

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear the bath area of toiletries and mats and provide easy access to the panel

• confirm location of the isolating valve or stopcock and ensure it is accessible

• arrange parking nearby and gate codes or concierge access for flats

• remove or protect loose floor coverings and inform the trader of pets or mobility needs

• tell the tradie about any known lead pipework, previous leaks or water quality issues before work starts
