Scope of Works

• Carry out a visual inspection of interior and exterior entry points, droppings and nest sites

• Set and position traps or bait stations in safe, discreet locations and label them

• Carry out targeted proofing of small gaps with steel wool, sealant or similar materials to block entry points

• Remove and bag droppings, nesting material and contaminated insulation using PPE and apply disinfectant where needed

• Monitor traps and bait stations with follow-up visits (typically 1–2 visits) and provide a clearance report

• Advise on longer-term repairs such as loft insulation replacement, external mortar repair or full proofing and quote separately

Most initial inspections and trap-setting take 1–2 hours; monitoring visits are typically 30–60 minutes each. Extensive proofing, loft insulation removal or structural repairs can extend work to 1–2 days

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Are you insured and experienced with domestic mice removal

• What methods do you use and will you use poison or only traps

• How many follow-up visits are included and what is the timescale for clearance

• Do you provide a written quote, guarantee and a report of work carried out

• How will you handle contaminated insulation and will disposal be included

How to Avoid Surprises

• Clear access to lofts, cupboards and external entry points before the visit

• Arrange parking close to the property and advise of access restrictions or gated drives

• Secure pets and inform the tradie of children or vulnerable occupants in the property

• Be prepared for possible follow-up visits and separate quotes for major repairs or insulation replacement

• Ask the tradie to wear PPE and to confirm safe waste handling where contamination is present
