Scope of Works

• inspect property to locate woodlouse hotspots and likely entry points such as damp skirting boards, gaps around pipes and external perimeters

• identify moisture sources and advise on drainage, ventilation and simple damp reduction measures

• remove or recommend removal of external debris, leaf litter and wood close to the building that harbour woodlice

• apply targeted treatments (residual spot spray or baits) to skirting, thresholds and external perimeter where appropriate

• set non-chemical traps and advise on ongoing housekeeping to limit re-infestation

• advise on sealing gaps, mortar repairs and damp remediation; arrange follow-up visits if required

• handle collected pests and contaminated material with PPE and dispose of waste safely

Most inspections and a single targeted treatment take 1–2 hours. larger jobs that include external perimeter work, access to sub-floor areas or damp repairs can take 3–4 hours or more and may need a follow-up visit 7–14 days later

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• are you insured and do you hold relevant pest-control qualifications?

• what specific products will you use and are they safe for children, pets and food-preparation areas?

• will you address moisture and entry points or only treat the pests?

• how many visits are included and do you offer a guarantee or free follow-up if woodlice return?

• what prep do i need to do (move furniture, cover food, secure pets) and how long after treatment before areas are safe to use?

• are there any likely extra costs (damp repairs, repeat visits, equipment hire)?

How to Avoid Surprises

• ensure clear access to affected rooms, lofts, cellars and external perimeters

• confirm parking or delivery arrangements if the tradie needs to bring equipment

• move furniture and foodstuffs away from skirting where treatment will be applied

• secure or remove pets and cover aquaria before arrival

• check whether you need landlord or management approval for treatments in flats or communal areas

• give details of recent damp works or photos of the area to help the tradie prepare
