Mouse Infestation Treatment Guide

Scope of Works

• Survey & identify activity – inspect lofts, cupboards and skirtings; place pheromone or tracking‑dust cards.

• Initial knock‑down – set tamper‑proof bait stations and/or snap traps; remove accessible food sources.

• Proofing – seal ≤ 6 mm gaps with steel wool, mesh vents and silicone pipe penetrations.

• Follow‑up visit (7‑14 days) – clear carcasses, refresh bait, re‑set traps and re‑inspect for droppings.

• Sanitise & advise – disinfect rodent areas, issue hygiene report and long‑term prevention tips.

• Optional extras – thermal‑imaging survey, loft insulation removal, annual monitoring contract.

Time on Site

• Initial visit: 45 – 90 minutes (survey, bait, proof key gaps).

• Return visit: 30 – 60 minutes (clear, re‑bait, proof remaining holes).

• Longer if loft insulation must be pulled back, large properties, or severe hoarding.

1. Which bait or trap system will you use and is it pet‑safe?

2. How many visits are included and what triggers extra charges?

3. Will you proof access holes or is that a separate quote?

4. Are your rodenticides HSE‑approved and recorded on the treatment sheet?

5. What guarantee do you give if activity returns within three months?

6. Can you supply a written hygiene report for landlords/insurers?

7. Do you hold a waste‑carrier licence for carcass and bait disposal?
   

How to Avoid Surprises

• Photograph droppings & gnaw marks and send them ahead for faster ID.

• Clear cupboard kick‑boards & loft hatches for quick access.

• Store food in sealed tubs and fix leaks so bait is more attractive.

• Reserve parking near the entrance for equipment boxes.

• Keep pets & children away from treated rooms until advised safe re‑entry time.

• Confirm VAT & revisit fees on the written quote before work starts.
