Scope of Works

• Confirm exact opening size & style from your measurements or a site visit.

• Prepare joinery drawings and specify timber species, glazing thickness and ironmongery.

• Machine and assemble timber frame, sash and drip beads; apply first‑coat preservative/primer.

• Pre‑hang sash on hinges, check weather‑seal compression and fit espagnolette or cockspur fastener.

• Supply the frame unglazed or with factory‑fitted toughened double glazing as agreed.

• Deliver to site with fixing pack, packers and fitting guide for DIY installation.

Time on Site

Workshop fabrication takes 5 – 7 hours spread over a week (machining, assembly, coating, glazing).A brief 30‑minute drop‑off or measurement visit is the only on‑site time unless you request templating or finishing touches.

Questions to Ask Your Trade

1. Will you supply detailed drawings for me to approve before cutting timber?

2. What timber species and treatment class do you recommend for my exposure zone?

3. Is the frame factory‑painted, primed only or bare wood—and how should I finish it?

4. Are cills, trickle vents and ironmongery included in the quoted price?

5. Can you pre‑fit double glazing and beads, or will I need to glaze on site?

6. How long is your workmanship and timber warranty, and what maintenance voids it?

7. Do you provide a tolerance guide and fixing pack so I can install without specialist tools?
   

How to Avoid Surprises

• Measure the opening in three places (top, middle, bottom) and give the smallest width & height.

• Confirm parking or clear workshop access for timber deliveries if the joiner visits to template.

• Ask whether the frame comes with ventilation slots, draught seals and drainage grooves pre‑cut.

• Check if you need to organise site glazing certification (FENSA/Certass) once the unit is installed.

• Get a written, all‑inclusive quote (inc. VAT) covering drawings, labour, timber, glazing, ironmongery and delivery.
