Scope of Works

• Inspect & identify damage (scratch‑polish, resin chip‑fill, or full pane replacement).

• Secure area—board up or tape cracked glass; vacuum shards from frames and floors.

• Carry out repair:  – Surface polish for light scratches.  – Resin injection for chips under 25 mm.  – Replace pane (single, toughened or double‑glazed unit) where cracks compromise strength.

• Seal & finish—re‑bead or re‑putty, apply exterior‑grade silicone, clean glass.

• Dispose of waste glass at licensed transfer station; issue waste‑transfer note.

Typical Cost (inc. VAT)

Time on Site

• 30–45 min for chip repair or light scratch polish.

• 1–2 hours for single‑pane replacement at ground level.

• 2–3 hours if double‑glazed unit needs de‑beading, frame cleaning and upper‑floor ladder or tower.

  
  

Questions to Ask Your Trade

1. Are you FENSA / GGF registered and fully insured?

2. Will I receive a BS‑compliant certificate for toughened or sealed‑unit glass?

3. Is the quote fixed (parts, labour, VAT) or subject to size confirmation?

4. How will broken glass be disposed—do you supply a waste‑transfer note?

5. What is the lead time for made‑to‑measure toughened or argon‑filled units?

6. Is a temporary board‑up included if special glass must be ordered?

7. Do you offer a warranty on resin chip repairs and replacement panes?

   
   

How to Avoid Surprises

• Photograph the window with a tape‑measure in view; send dimensions for an accurate quote.

• Reserve parking close to the property for a glass‑rack van.

• Remove curtains & ornaments before the glazier arrives to speed up the job.

• Flag any restricted access (upper‑floor sash, narrow stairs) so the crew brings correct lifting gear.

• Keep the glass spec sticker from any previous replacement—helps match Low‑E or acoustic panes.
