Scope of Works

• Pre‑site survey to confirm sizes, hinge direction and sill height.

• Remove and responsibly dispose of the existing door, frame and trims.

• Check brickwork/steels; pack and secure the new uPVC frame square and plumb.

• Fit the door leaf, adjust hinges and locks for smooth operation and weather seal compression.

• Install new multi‑point locking hardware, handles, letterplate and drip bar.

• Low‑expansion foam, silicone and internal trim to seal against draughts and rain.

• Test operation, apply security glazing stickers, complete FENSA/Certass paperwork and tidy site.

A straight like‑for‑like swap typically takes 3–5 hours.Extra time may be needed for: widening the opening, remedial brickwork, relocating alarms or wiring, bad weather, or homeowner add‑ons (side‑lights, cat‑flap).

Questions to Ask Your Trade

1. Are you FENSA or Certass registered and will I receive a compliance certificate?

2. What energy‑rating and U‑value does the proposed door achieve?

3. Is toughened or laminated glass included where needed for security?

4. Will the quote cover internal trims, finishing sealant and disposal?

5. How long is the hardware and colour‑fast warranty?

6. Do you provide a security‑test demonstration before hand‑over?

7. What is your lead time for made‑to‑measure doors if my aperture isn’t standard?
   

How to Avoid Surprises

• Ensure clear parking and access for a large van close to the doorway.

• Remove blinds, curtains and alarm contacts before the fitters arrive.

• Confirm any planning/fire‑door regulations if the property is a flat or listed building.

• Reserve indoor space for the new door and frame to be unpacked safely.

• Check whether scaffolding or a tower is required for first‑floor balcony doors.
