Scope of Works

• Survey existing opening and take detailed measurements

• manufacture or order aluminium/UPVC frame and safety laminated or toughened glass to spec

• remove and dispose of existing glazing and trim and make good opening

• install new frame, glaze, seals and cills; adjust for weatherproofing and security glazing tape

• fit locks, external trims and any required security film or bars

• make good internal and external finishes and clear site of debris, leaving site ready for trading

• use PPE and dust control measures during works and manage broken glass as hazardous waste

Typical installs range from 1 day for a simple single-window replacement to 3–7 days for a bespoke shopfront; factors that extend time include bespoke glazing lead times, structural alterations to the opening, scaffold or road-permit delays and bad weather

• can you confirm glazing spec (laminated/toughened) and U-value for my location

• what is lead time for bespoke frames and does the quote include storage or multiple visits

• who organises scaffold, road or pavement licences and are these costs included

• what guarantee do you provide for frame, glass and labour and is it in writing

• do you have public liability insurance and can you supply a copy for our records

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear access and inside working area and protect floors and stock

• arrange nearby parking or permits for vehicle and scaffold deliveries

• check building-control, party wall or conservation area requirements before starting

• confirm who supplies consumables and whether extras like security film are included

• keep pets and customers away from the work area and plan trading interruptions if needed
