• do you include green waste disposal in the quoted price or charge extra

• are you insured for public liability and can you show a certificate

• will you bring all equipment and fuel or do i need to supply anything

• how do you price the job — hourly or fixed price and what triggers extras

• how will you protect borders, paving and fences during work

• can you provide photos or references from similar jobs in my area

How to Avoid Surprises

• ensure clear access and remove vehicles or large obstacles from drive and gates

• reserve a parking space or permit if street parking is limited

• point out buried services, irrigation pipes or septic tanks before work starts

• secure pets and keep children away from the work area

• agree disposal method in advance — taken away, left in a corner or council collection

• tell the trader about boundary plants, protected trees or neighbour arrangements
