Scope of Works

• mow lawn to an even height

• trim and shape hedges to specified height and line

• strim around fences, paths and flowerbeds and edge borders

• cut back overgrowth from fences, walls and paving

• clear clippings and either chip on site or bag and remove

• follow safe working practices including PPE and safe ladder use for taller hedges

Most small suburban jobs take 45 minutes–2 hours; larger gardens or very overgrown hedges typically take 2–5 hours. Time is extended by garden size, hedge height and density, restricted access, the need to chip or remove waste, safety setup for working at height and adverse weather

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Are you insured and can you show public liability cover?

• Do you include green waste disposal or is that charged separately?

• Will you chip cuttings on site and leave woodchip, or take everything away?

• How many operatives will be on site and how long do you expect the job to take?

• Do you bring your own petrol/electric equipment and fuel, and do you need mains power?

• Are there any extra costs for high hedges, scaffold or traffic management?

How to Avoid Surprises

• ensure clear access to the garden and unblock driveways if possible

• point out gates, taps and outside sockets to the trader on arrival

• arrange parking for the van or tell the tradie about parking restrictions

• secure pets and keep children away from work areas

• tell the trader about conservation areas, tree protection orders or shared boundaries
