Scope of Works

Factors that extend time include the number of drawers, extent of carcass damage, restricted access and lead times for specialist parts

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Have you repaired bedroom drawers like mine (timber, MDF, soft-close) and can you show examples?

• What is the fixed call-out and hourly labour rate and are materials charged separately?

• Will you fit new runners or repair the originals and what guarantee do you provide?

• Do you need to take the drawer away to your workshop and if so how long will it be away?

• Are there any additional costs you foresee (matching timber, bespoke work, extra fittings)?

• Do you carry public liability insurance and can you provide a written estimate before work?

How to Avoid Surprises

• Clear access to the bedroom and remove fragile items from drawers

• Ensure parking or loading space near the property and tell the tradie about restrictions or permits

• Have replacement parts agreed in advance or confirm lead times for special runners

• Secure pets and keep the workspace clear for tools, dust sheets and PPE use

• Tell the tradie about damp, pests or previous repairs that affect the carcass

• Ask for a written quote, agreed start time and payment terms to avoid unexpected charges
