Scope of Works

• Inspect door and frame to confirm hung side, thickness and hinge type

• advise on suitable self-closer type (surface-mounted, concealed or spring hinge)

• prepare and mark fixing positions and drill pilot holes where needed

• fit closer and associated brackets, adjust closing speed and latch action

• test operation with door stop, check lock alignment if present and make minor adjustments

• tidy up, remove packaging and take away small waste unless otherwise agreed

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• is the door a certified fire door and will the closer meet that rating

• do you supply the closer and what brands or warranties are offered

• will any door trimming, morticing or additional hinge work be needed and what does that cost

• do you carry public liability insurance and can you provide a written quote before work starts

• how will you protect finishes and will you touch up paint if fixings mark the door

• what aftercare or adjustment visits are included and is there a service fee

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear the area around the door and remove curtains or obstructions

• confirm door thickness, handing and whether it is a fire door before the visit

• provide short-term parking or give precise access instructions for tight streets or blocks

• tell your tradie about pets, alarms or site rules in flats and gain any required permissions

• ask for confirmation if an alternative closer is needed so you can agree cost and lead time
