Scope of Works

• Remove existing internal door from hinges and detach hardware for re-use

• inspect frame and reveal for rot, warping and squareness

• supply and fit new slab door or hang a pre-hung door if ordered

• trim and plane door edges and bottom for correct clearance and fit hinges and latch

• fit new ironmongery (hinges, latch/lock and strike) and adjust for smooth operation

• re-fix or replace architrave, fill screw holes and leave fitting ready for final decorating

• remove and responsibly dispose of the old door and small amounts of debris

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• will you supply the door and ironmongery or are you fitting customer-supplied items

• do you handle frame repairs and how do you price additional work if the frame is rotten

• can you fit a fire-rated door and provide certification if required

• is disposal of the old door included and how will you manage bulky waste

• will you protect floors and furniture and do you wear PPE to reduce dust and debris

• what is the expected start-to-finish time and do you need access to other rooms or services

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear access and move small furniture from the working area

• confirm exact door size, handing and any fire-rating before work starts

• tell the tradie about pets, narrow corridors or stairs that affect carrying doors through

• check parking and ground-floor access for delivery of larger pre-hung doors

• agree disposal method and any extra charges for bulky waste or skip hire

• confirm whether final decoration is included or if you will need to redecorate afterwards
