Scope of Works

• Inspect door and frame to confirm where material needs removing

• Remove door from hinges or loosen hinges as required for stable trimming

• Plane or trim the door edge or bottom to achieve specified clearance

• Sand and smooth cut edges and apply sealant or paint touch‑up if agreed

• Check and adjust hinges, latch and alignment for smooth closing

• Use dust extraction and PPE (mask, goggles) while cutting and sanding

• Clear up waste, test the door several open/close cycles and tidy site

Most single internal door trims take 30–90 minutes on site depending on whether the door is removed and how much finish work is needed. Factors that extend time include stuck hinges, rot repairs, paint drying and multiple doors

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Do you charge a call‑out fee and is it deducted from the final cost?

• Will you remove the door from hinges or trim in situ and which option do you recommend?

• Do you include sanding and touch‑up painting in the quoted price?

• What measures do you take to contain dust and protect flooring and carpets?

• If the frame needs adjusting or a new threshold is required how will you price that work?

How to Avoid Surprises

• Clear the working area and remove rugs or fragile items from the door swing

• Arrange parking or close drop‑off for tools near the property

• Have keys available or meet the trader at the door to avoid delays

• Tell the tradie about pets, children or restricted access routes before arrival

• Check leasehold or listed‑building rules for door/frame changes if applicable
