Scope of Works

• Measure and mark positions for new internal door handles and curtain rails

• remove existing handles, latches or brackets and assess door/frame condition

• fit new handle sets and latch/strike plates, cut spindle to length and test operation

• install curtain rails or tracks to wall or ceiling using appropriate plugs/anchors for plasterboard or masonry

• drill pilot holes, secure fixings, tidy debris and check that handles and rails operate smoothly

• advise on compatibility (lock types, door thickness) and return to supply specific parts if needed

Typical single internal door handle and one curtain rail take about 0.5–2 hours on site depending on door condition and wall type; allow longer for multiple doors, replacing mortice locks or drilling into solid masonry

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Do you supply the handles/rails or should I provide specific products?

• How will you fix rails to plasterboard or to masonry and what anchors will you use?

• If the lock or handle doesn't fit, do you charge for a return visit or additional parts?

• Will you locate and avoid hidden services (wiring/plumbing) when drilling?

• What warranty do you offer on labour and fitted hardware?

• Do you carry PPE and will you use dust sheets when drilling indoors?

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear area and remove curtains/pictures so tradesperson can work immediately

• check parking and access for van to avoid delays or extra call-out time

• supply or pre-approve specific handles/rails if you have a preference to avoid wrong parts

• tell the tradesperson about fragile finishes, listed-building restrictions or communal rules beforehand

• keep pets out of the work area and agree where waste can be left
