Scope of Works

• Survey the existing garden, measure levels and check drainage

• Remove old paving, decking, borders and unwanted vegetation

• Excavate and prepare sub‑base for patio or level area for turf/deck

• Supply and lay hard landscaping (paving, gravel, sleepers or decking) to agreed layout

• Build planting beds, supply topsoil and plant shrubs, perennials and mulching

• Install turf or seed and basic irrigation or drainage runs where required

• Remove and legally dispose of waste, final tidy and client walkthrough

Typical redesigns for a small to medium rear garden take 2–7 days on site; larger projects with structural walls, steps or major drainage usually take 1–3 weeks. Weather, material lead times, unexpected buried services and neighbour access issues commonly extend the programme

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Are you insured and can you provide current public liability and employer liability certificates?

• Have you done similar garden redesigns and can I see examples or references?

• What is included in the quote and what counts as a variation?

• Who will be on site each day and do you use subcontractors for specialist work?

• What guarantees do you offer for workmanship and planted stock?

How to Avoid Surprises

• Confirm access and space for delivery lorries and skips

• Mark location of buried services and show where water and stops are

• Agree a secure storage area for materials and a compounds location

• Check planning or party‑wall needs for walls, fences or large structures and inform neighbours early

• Arrange containment for pets and children during works

• Get a written estimate that lists exclusions, lead times and payment milestones
