Scope of Works

• remove overgrown vegetation, old turf and garden waste for disposal

• prune and reduce hedges and small trees to a manageable size

• excavate, level and regrade beds and lawn areas ready for new soil

• supply and spread topsoil and compost, and lay new turf or sow lawn seed

• install simple hard landscaping such as gravel paths, edging and small patios

• supply and plant shrubs and perennials, mulch beds and protect new plants as needed

Most small garden overhauls take 1–3 days on site; medium jobs typically take 3–7 days. Factors that extend time include poor ground conditions, bad weather, restricted access, material lead times and unexpected drainage or root issues.

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• are you insured for public and employer liability and can you supply certificates

• what exactly is included in the written quote and what will be charged as extras

• who will remove waste and are skip or haulage costs included

• can you confirm material lead times and any deposits required for plants or stone

• will you check for underground services and notify me of any risks before digging

• what guarantee do you offer on planting and hard landscaping work

How to Avoid Surprises

• confirm clear access and a safe place for materials and tools

• reserve parking or notify neighbours if large deliveries or a skip are needed

• mark the position of buried services and tell the tradie about known roots or drains

• agree where waste and skips will be placed and who is responsible for removal

• check for planning restrictions, tree preservation orders or estate rules before work starts

• secure pets and keep children away from the work area; expect trades to use PPE for safety
