Scope of Works

• Survey and measure the garden, record levels and note access and services

• remove existing turf, paving or structures and sort material for reuse or disposal

• prepare sub‑bases, topsoil or imported aggregates and perform any required levelling

• install hard landscaping such as patios, paths, edging, sleepers or decking to spec

• plant beds, lay turf or fit artificial lawn and add mulch or soil improver as specified

• install drainage, irrigation or lighting as quoted and take precautions for underground services

Most small landscaping jobs take 1–3 days; medium projects 3–7 days; full garden redesigns can take 2–3 weeks. Weather, ground conditions, planning requirements, specialist deliveries and restricted access will extend time on site

• can you provide a written quote breaking down labour, materials, disposal and extras

• do you manage planning or permits and will any work need council approval

• how will you deal with waste and is skip hire included or charged extra

• what guarantees do you offer on hard landscaping and on plant establishment

• who will be on site and do you use subcontractors or a permanent team

• how will you manage surprises like poor ground conditions or finding buried services

How to Avoid Surprises

• ensure clear access and parking for vans and any hired plant

• provide a secure storage area for materials and state any restrictions from your estate or lease

• confirm availability of water and electricity or ask trades to include temporary connections

• check for underground services and share any utility plans before work starts

• secure pets and let neighbours know about noisy works or restricted access
