Scope of Works

• survey and mark existing lawn line and levels

• strip old turf and remove uneven topsoil; dig out intrusive roots where needed

• cut a clean edge and install chosen edging (metal, plastic, timber or stone) to set line

• relay new turf or prepare for overseeding: add topsoil/sand, lay turf and tamp

• tidy and infill, water new turf and remove arisings to tip

• wear PPE (gloves, boots) and manage any contaminated soil or chemical residues

Most small lawns (under 20 m²) take 2–4 hours; medium lawns (20–60 m²) typically take half a day–1 day; larger or complex jobs may take 1–2 days. Factors that extend time include poor ground, lots of roots, restricted access, machine hire and wet weather

• what area (m²) is your quote based on and will you set out the line first

• which edging material and profile do you recommend and why

• is turf included and will you match existing lawn variety

• how will arisings be disposed of and is disposal included

• will you need machine hire or extra operatives and how are these charged

• what guarantee and aftercare (watering schedule) do you provide

How to Avoid Surprises

• provide clear vehicle access and reserve parking close to the work area

• point out buried services, irrigation lines and drainage before work starts

• ensure water supply is available for turf watering or confirm contractor will bring water

• keep pets and children away while heavy tools or machinery are used

• agree a start date window and a wet‑weather contingency for rescheduling
