Scope of Works

• Pre-design site visit, measure area and discuss desired layout

• assess soil quality and drainage and mark any problem spots

• strip existing turf and weeds and remove surface debris

• cultivate and level ground, import screened topsoil where needed

• supply and lay rolled turf or prepare and sow seed according to brief

• install edging, basic drainage and finish with compacting and first watering

• remove spoil and green waste and leave site tidy plus aftercare advice

Design visit and quote typically 1–2 hours; turfing for a small urban lawn (20–50 m2) usually 1 day; medium lawns 1–3 days; full garden redesigns including planting and hard landscaping can take 1–3 weeks depending on scope and weather

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• how many similar turfing and garden design jobs have you completed locally

• do you supply the turf/plants and are delivery and planting included in the quote

• will you improve drainage or topsoil and is that itemised separately

• who will be on site each day, are they insured and do you use subcontractors

• what guarantee do you offer on turf establishment and planted areas

• how will you manage waste removal and what access or parking do you need

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear furniture, pots and obstacles from the work area

• check gate and path widths for deliveries and digger access and tell the tradie

• confirm available water supply for final settling and turf watering

• arrange parking close to the property or agree a loading point with the tradie

• tell the tradie about buried services, septic tanks or drains on site

• agree working hours, access times and any communal building rules with neighbours or management
