Scope of Works

• carry out a site survey and measure levels, boundaries and existing features

• provide a written quote and simple layout showing paving, planting and turf areas

• strip out existing turf and unwanted planting and remove arisings to a licensed tip

• prepare sub‑base, lay paving, slabs or decking with edge restraints and compacted sub‑soils

• import and spread topsoil, lay turf or seed and plant shrubs, hedging and small trees

• install basic drainage, soakaways or irrigation connections where required

• final tidy, remove surplus materials and provide a client walk‑through of works

Most small landscaping jobs take 1–2 days, medium projects 3–7 days and larger redesigns 1–3 weeks. Time increases with bad weather, restricted access for diggers, unexpected drainage or root problems, specialist material lead times and additional approvals

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• can you provide a written quote with a materials list and basic layout

• what warranties or guarantees do you offer for workmanship and plants

• will you check and mark underground services before digging

• how will you manage drainage and run‑off for the proposed build levels

• what access, parking and storage do you need and will you need to place a skip

• how do you handle unexpected costs and will you confirm variations in writing

How to Avoid Surprises

• confirm vehicle access, parking and a space for material storage

• ask the tradie to locate underground services and provide a safe digging plan

• agree who supplies plants and confirm sizes and delivery lead times

• discuss waste removal method and whether a skip or multiple tip runs are needed

• check for restrictions such as conservation area, leasehold covenants or party wall issues
