Scope of Works

• Measure area and check access and existing levels

• Strip existing turf and remove perennial weeds

• Cultivate and level subsoil and add topsoil where required

• Lay new turf rolls or turf slabs, stagger seams and finish edges

• Tidy site and remove arisings; sweep paths and bin small debris

• Work using basic PPE and report any drainage, root or contamination concerns

Small front gardens (10–20 m²) typically take 3–6 hours, medium gardens (20–60 m²) usually take 1–2 days, and poor ground or restricted access can extend the job

• What turf type will you use and is there a warranty or guarantee

• Is site preparation, topsoil and weed removal included in the price

• Who disposes of the old turf and is skip hire included

• How many operatives will attend and how long will they be on site

• What happens if you find buried services, tree roots or contaminated soil

• Do you provide aftercare guidance and a follow-up if the turf fails

How to Avoid Surprises

• Ensure clear, level access for deliveries and operatives

• Reserve a nearby parking space and tell the tradie about any parking restrictions

• Move cars and fragile items and keep pets indoors while works are carried out

• Measure and mark drains, manholes and service covers before arrival

• Ask for a written quote that lists disposal and extra-charge scenarios

• Check whether permission is needed from a freeholder or local authority for new edging or walls
